Water crisis stare Jammuites

Sir,
This refers the article by Sunny Dua titled “Water crisis stare Jammuites” some days ago.
Well written article on an issue which calls for an immediate action by all of us in our respective areas. When author says several places like Rajouri and Poonch see women walking distances to fetch water in pots, this may be the situation in many hilly regions in other districts also like Reasi, Udhampur etc which have not been covered by tapped water supply.
I have personally seen lines of women with empty pots waiting at community water taps in Ajmer and other towns of Rajasthan in 1980s. Tap water was available on alternate days.
In the area in Jammu where I live, many households use fresh water to wash open spaces of the house and this water flows on roads outside upto 100 metres or so. Same for car washing.
Use of potable water in lawns can be reduced if sewerage treatment plants are installed and the treated water is supplied for this purpose. It’s for J&K Government and agencies who are responsible for installation of sewerage treatment plants to see to it.
Yours etc..
