KISHTWAR, Aug 16: Struggling with acute water crisis the residents of Lachkhazana-Wasser area here today staged a protest demonstration against PHE and stopped vehicular movement on Padder-Kishtwar Road in Wasser area.
The protesters alleged mismanagement in drinking water distribution and non-serious attitude of authorities of Hydraulic Division Kishtwar towards the public as for the last one month water supply to their area has been disturbed.
They said that many times they brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities but no one responded to their pleas which forced them to protest.
Raising slogans against PHE Department, the protestors said that corruption in the system and absence of officers in the field has totally ruined the water distribution system in whole of Kishtwar.
Tehsildar Kishtwar and SHO Kishtwar, Inspector, Abid Bukhari along with officers of PHE met the protesters and assured them for solution.
After getting assurance of water supply by evening the protest was called off the protest.
Meanwhile, the villagers have threatened to resume their protest in morning if water supply was not restored.
