The recent rains in the Jammu City have once again brought the issue of water logging in the city to the forefront. These rains caused traffic sneals and water logging at various places causing prolonged traffic jams and inconvenience to commuters. The city looked as if had been inundated by floods. Drains were flowing onto the roads making vehicular movement impossible. The Jammu Municipal Corporation had assured the people that by taking precautionary measures before the onset of monsoon, there would be no water logging.
It seems, the corporation has not done much spade work on this count. Once monsoon season is over, the corporation should once again see the problem, and take measures accordingly. It may be mentioned here that water logging caused extensive damage to property last year in the city as water entered the houses located at some low lying areas.
