Sir,
In view of the rainy season, it is quite imperative that civic bodies like Jammu Municipal Corporation get ready to meet the challenge of keeping the city free of water-logging. Last years rains caused great havoc in the city as rain water inaundated the low lying areas Bhagwati Nagar, Jewel Chowk and other areas. The water logging was a result of choked drains. These drains could not accommodate the large volume and hence it spilled over them and entered the nearby buildings. The residents had to go through a lot of trouble because of it. To avoid such a situation this year, it is expected the concerned bodies may take necessary steps in advance. Otherwise it would be late to deal with the crisis.
The city can afford such scenes in view of Amarnath Yatra and huge traffic. Besides, tourists too are thronging in large number. To avoid any kind of inconvenience to them, it is imperative that they preventive measures are taken beforehand.
Yours etc….
Janak Raj
