SUNDERBANI, Sept 4: Former MLC and JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma has alleged that a large population of Jangru, Bajabain, Kuldabbi and Bhenigala besides adjoining areas, is suffering due to lack of initiative to get a mega water filtration project at Beripattan sanctioned.
In a series of interactions at Kangri, Bajabain and Bhenigala, Sharma questioned why the mega project conceived and  submitted by him during his tenure in 2014, could not be sanctioned.
He said after the sanction of Beripattan Lift Irrigation Scheme at the cost of around Rs 52 crores, a Water Filtration project was submitted to the Centre at the cost of over Rs 12 crores under BADP in order to meet the drinking water needs of over a dozen villages. He said that since 2014 no initiative was taken by the public representatives and the department to get the same sanctioned.
A large population of surrounding areas is today suffering due to apathy of the administration and the department  as the project was not sanctioned so far.
He claimed that Beripattan Lift Irrigation Scheme sanctioned by UPA Government and started in early 2014 stands abandoned, which reflects the failure of the present Government.
