JAMMU, Sept 29: Kuldeep R.Wattal form Chinar International, New Delhi has been elected as Chairman of Carpet Export Promotion Council (Ministry of Textiles) for a period of two years. Mr Wattal,who hails from Kashmir has been elected to this prestigious post second time which is rare honour. Indian  Handmade Carpet Industry is highly labour intensive and provides employment to about 2 million workers directly and indirectly.
Mr Wattal has an experience of over 35 years in the Carpet trade and is Country’s leading exporter of Handmade Carpets and other Floor Coverings. He has been a Executive Member of All India Handicraft Board, Board Member of CAPART (Ministry of Rural Development) and presently on Board of  IICT and is also convener of Delhi Exporters Association.
Looking at his experience and leadership quciities, the Indian Carpet Industry lauded his appointment as a Chairman of the Cmpet Export Promotion Council) to lead the carpet industry. Mr Wattal has many challenges before him and the most crucial is restoration of interest subvention, development of Clusters for training of Carpet weavers and providing financial assistance to small and medium exporters for participating in national and international fairs and exhibitions through CEPC.
