SRINAGAR, Dec 9: Wular Conservation and Management Authority (WCMA) today reported incidents of poaching at Wular Lake, sharing the photos of those involved for identification.
WCMA described the situation as “disturbing,” noting that the lake, a critical habitat for biodiversity, witnessed acts of poaching involving wild birds protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
“The birds are scheduled species, and harming them is a punishable offense,” WCMA said.
The authorities stated that they have obtained photos and videos of individuals involved in this illegal activity.
“To ensure justice and preserve the delicate ecosystem of Wular Lake, we urgently need your help in identifying these culprits,” WCMA wrote on social media.
“Your cooperation can make a significant difference in safeguarding Wular Lake’s natural heritage. Together, let’s protect our wildlife and preserve our environment for future generations.”
