WDC Board approves release of Pay Commission arrears installment

SRINAGAR, July 30: The Board of Directors of J&K State Women’s Development Corporation today took many decisions during a high level meeting held under the chairmanship of Social Welfare Minister, Sakina Itoo.
The Board approved release of 3rd installment of 6th Pay Commission arrears @ 20 % for the year 2013-14 as well as DA @ 7% in cash w.e.f July 2012 and 8 %  in cash w.e.f January, 2013 in favour of the employees of the Corporation, construction of women complex at Bemina, Srinagar through Srinagar Development Authority, extension of Consolidated Field Supervisors, renovation of Women Community Halls under Swayamsiddha Scheme and ratification to the promotion of Field Supervisors to the post of District Managers etc.
Principal Secretary, Planning and Development Department, B. R. Sharma, Principal Secretary, Finance Department B. B. Vyas, Secretary Social Welfare, Gazenffar Hussain, Director Social Welfare, Kashmir Farooq Ahmad Khan, Managing Director, Women’s Development Corporation, Nahid Soz, Professor Indira Rathore Sharma, Director BOD of JKWDC and other officers of the JKWDC attended the meeting.
The Minister while highlighting the role of JKWDC said that this has become a role model for other agencies dealing with the empowerment of the women. She said that Corporation has successfully carried out its activities not only in cities and towns but also in the remote areas of the State. However, she emphasized on giving due priority to the uncovered areas so that women living there can also be benefited by the schemes of the Corporation.
The meeting was told that so far Corporation has disbursed loan amounting to Rs 6786.40 lakh among 9637 beneficiaries and recoveries to the tune of 98% has been made. It was also told in the meeting that 673 awareness camps were held on which Rs 33.45 lakh have been expended while 23 exhibitions in and outside the state have been held incurring expenditure of Rs 129.04 lakh.
Earlier, the Managing Director JKWDC while highlighting achievements of JKWDC through power point presentation informed the meeting about the present status of various schemes launched by the Corporation for the upliftment of the women including NBCFDC, NHFDC, education loan scheme etc.
