LEH, June 28 : State Women’s Development Corporation in collaboration with National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) organized one day capacity building programme for differently abled women beneficiaries here today.
Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh Rigzin Spalbur inaugurated the camp. Whileas Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NHFDC, Harsh Bhal was the guest of honour on the occasion. District Development Commissioner, Leh Tsering Angchuk, besides senior officers of the district administration also participated in the camp.
In his inaugural speech, the Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC stressed that more efforts are needed to be made so that more number of physically disabled women could avail the benefit of the welfare schemes.
He called upon the beneficiaries to come forward and take full benefits of the welfare schemes launched by State and Central Organisations for their welfare. He also stressed upon them to work for their rights and socio economic empowerment.
He underscored the need for organizing such workshops in future also to pave way for further development of such differently abled groups. He stressed upon JKWDC for establishment of fullfledged district office in Leh for effective implementation of NHFDC and other welfare schemes in the area for the benefit of differently abled persons.
Managing Director, Dr Naheed Soz, in her welcome address, highlighted various activities and achievements of Women’s Development Corporation rendered for socio- economic upliftment of differently abled women in the State.
Chairman cum Managing Director NHFDC highlighted the various schemes of NHFDC for the differently- abled persons like self employment, education loan, aids and appliances and also enlightened the audience about the scholarship schemes of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment where a disabled student studying professional course could avail scholarship of upto Rs 1 lakh per annum.
He said that criteria of annual income has been waived off from the eligibility condition and 40% or more disability is taken as the major marker in considering financial assistance of NHFDC to differently abled persons. He said that Managing Director, JKWDC has been authorized to sanction and release loans upto Rs 5.00 lakh.
District Development Commissioner Leh in his address threw light on various welfare schemes launched by the government for disabled destitute persons.
