GUWAHATI, Mar 23 : In a hard-hitting rejoinder to Priyanka Gandhi‘s charge that the Modi government had done nothing for the tea garden workers, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh strongly retorted saying, “we are not “seasonal” campaigners like Congress, who come here only during election time and go straight to tea gardens for a Bollywood type photo-shoot and pose as sympathizers of the tea garden workers”.
“We have been here on the ground and among the people 24 x 7 x 365 for the last seven years ever since Narendra Modi took over as Prime Minister”, said Dr. Jitendra Singh.  “We are constantly intermingling with common people all the time, even when we did not have our BJP Government in Assam”, he said.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said, “we have consistently worked hard, day and night, to win the confidence of people”.  “Even when we did not have our government in Assam, the BJP Karyakartas would set up relief camps in times of flood or any other calamity”, he said.  We have shared the concerns of the common people and also celebrated their joys, he added.
When asked about the BJP manifesto released by Party’s National President J P Nadda today, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, it is a reiteration to ensure inclusive growth of Assam with focus on security, development and cultural identity.  He said, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, consistent and diligent effort was put in to pull out Assam from the long nightmare of insurgency and violence into which the Congress governments had thrown the State and now that the development activities have rolled out on a fast track, we are seeking second term to consolidate the gains of the last term and to embark on a quantum jump of growth.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said, Assam is the gateway to Northeast and therefore, it would play a leading role in the future growth of India.
