Weather finally improves in Kashmir, Ladakh, Leh still coldest

SRINAGAR :  The night temperature finally witnessed a slight improvement in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region, where Leh with minus 9 degree remained coldest in the region.
However, frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir with minus 3 degree minimum temperature was coldest in the valley.
A Met department spokesman said weather will remain dry duirng the next 24 hours.
However, cloudy weather during the night improved the minimum temperature, he said.
The sun also appeared today though icy cold winds continued in the valley.
Leh in Ladakh region recorded minus 9 degree minimum temperature against yesterday’s minus 11.2 degree while at Kargil, a border town on Srinagar-Leh national highway it was minus 3.4 degree, against minus 6.8 degree recorded yesterday.
Srinagar, the summer capital, recorded 0.4 degrees minimum temperature, an improvement of three degrees against yesterday.
Gulmarg, a world famous ski resort in north Kashmir also recorded 0.4 degree minimum temperature, about three degree above normal.
At world health resort of Pahalgam, the minimum temperature was minus 2.4 degree against yesterdays minus 3.6 degree.
However, at Kupwara it was slightly down as against minus 2.9 degree, the minimum temperature was minus 3 degree, the Met spokesman said.
Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir it was minus 0.6 degree against yesterdays minus 2 and Kokernag 0.2 degree, he said. (AGENCIES)
