Weather remains humid; sun plays hide and seek in Kashmir

SRINAGAR:Weather remained humid, though the sun was playing hide and seek in Kashmir valley, where more scattered or isolated rain is predicted during the next four days.
Dry weather during the past 24 hours has resulted in further increase in the night temperature, though the maximum temperature  was normal yesterday, when it was humid and hot weather.     A Met department spokesman said there could be isolated rain or thundershowers during the next 24 hours in the valley.
During the subsequent three days, there is possibility of scattered rain. In Jammu, there could be scattered or fairly widespread rain during the next four days in the region, he said, adding that weather will remain dry during the next 24 hours in Ladakh region.
After witnessing further increase in the minimum temperature, people woke up to a cloudy morning, though sun was playing hide and seek as the day progressed  in summer capital Srinagar.     Against yesterday’s humid and hot weather, it was relatively less humid mainly due to winds, providing some relief to the people today.
The spokesman also said the minimum temperature in the city was  20 degree Celsius, one  notch above normal.
There could be light rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 28 and 18 degrees, respectively during the next 24 hours in the city.     Pahalgam, base camp of holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir, recorded 15.4 degrees, one and half a degree above normal while at Gulmarg, world famous ski resort, it was 12.6 degree, half a notch above normal.
Qazigund and Kokernag in south Kashmir and Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded one degree above normal minimum temperature.   He said Leh and border town of Kargil in Ladakh region also recorded surge in the minimum temperature. Against yesterday’s 16.5 degree minimum temperature, it was 17.5 degree at Leh, while at Kargil  it was 15.6 degree against yesterday’s 13.6 degree minimum temperature.
He said the sky would be gernely cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 30 degrees and 19 degrees, respectively during the next 24 hours in Leh.     In Jammu, there is possibility of light rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 33 degrees and 26 degrees, respectively.
