JAMMU, Mar 5: A delegation of Weavers and Artisans Cell of Jammu Province called on Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga at Shyama Prasad Mookherjee Bhawan Trikuta Nagar Jammu.
The delegation, led by Varinder Jeet Singh, Incharge All Cells and Bal Krishan Koul, Convenor BJP Weavers and Artisans Cell, submitted a memorandum highlighting the issues of weavers.
The delegation drew attention of the Minister towards bad condition of the weavers and artisans of Jammu province, who have been thrown into poverty due to the partisan and partial politics adopted by the Government towards them.
“The schemes that the Central Government declares from time to time remains within the domain of the concerned department and the blue eyed ones. There is dearth of raw material due to which productivity suffers and yarn imported from outside State is levied VAT which makes weavers and artisans produce costly,” the delegation explained and urged the Government to pay attention towards the plights of weavers and artisans of Jammu.
