Webinar on ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ organised by PIB & ROB Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 5: Press Information Bureau and Regional Outreach Bureau, Jammu, organised a webinar on ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ (EBSB) in close coordination with PIB Chennai and ROB Chennai, in order to give wide dissemination to the themes of EBSB with special focus on Art and Architecture of J&K, Ladakh and Tamil Nadu.
The objectives of Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat is to celebrate the unity in diversity of our Nation, to promote the spirit of national integration, to showcase the rich heritage and culture, customs and traditions of either State for enabling people to understand and appreciate the diversity of India.
Neha Jalali, Deputy Director, PIB & ROB J&K, said that though the pandemic had restricted field outreach but had opened up new vistas for increasing digital footprint of Government Departments, especially in terms of information dissemination and outreach online.
Kirpal Singh, Conservation Assistant Dogra Art Museum, Jammu, threw light on the Basohli Paintings, Block printing of Samba, Krimchi temples and forts of Jammu like Mubarak Mandi, Bahu Fort etc as art and architecture of the area.
Prof Shawkat Kathju, Deptt of Paintings and Fine Arts, University of Kashmir, spoke on Nakkashi, Meenakari, Paper machie, wood works and other arts of Kashmir region of the UT of J&K.
Tashi Morup, Project Director Ladakh Arts & Media Organizations, informed the participants via a PPT about pre historic, bronze age, Iron Age and historic petroglyphs. He also spoke on pre Tibetan Buddhist rock arts and Tibetan Buddhist art post the second and third diffusion of Buddhism in Tibet.
Dr D Anuradha, HoD History, Loyala College Chennai, shed light on the architecture from Sangam age, Pallavas, Pandyas, Cholas, Vijaynagar and Nayak architecture. She also informed about Indo Saracenic architecture using PPT.
The webinar was attended by other officers and officials of ROB, PIB J&K and Chennai, such as T Shivkumar, Dy Director FOB Puducherry; Syed Adil Shamim Andrabi, FEO J&K; Mohammad Shahid Lone, FPO Anantnag; Khursheed Yousuf, FPO Udhampur.
The webinar was moderated by Vijay Mattoo I/c Field Outreach Bureau, Kathua. Students from the state of Tamil Nadu as well as from the UTs of J&K and Ladakh also participated in the webinar.
