JAMMU, Feb 4: Career Counselling and Placement cell of Government MAM College conducted a webinar on the topic “Tourism as a Career Option: A way to Atamnirbhar Bharat”.
The webinar was conducted under the patronage of Principal Prof G. S Rakwal. He emphasized that even with imminent fluctuations in the economy, the hospitality industry has always shown great resilience in its business and has even managed to survive when other sectors have not. He stressed that the hospitality industry has boomed over recent years and it is expected to continue growing in the future as technological advancements continue to be on the increase.
Dr Suvidha Khanna, Assistant Professor in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu was the Resource person for the event. She spoke in detail as to how tourism can be opted as a career choice. She also motivated the students to opt tourism as a career choice because it comes with its own set of advantages like good salary, adventurous, satisfactory hikes, one gets to know more about cultures. She also encouraged the students to become entrepreneurs rather than job seekers.
The webinar was followed by an interactive session where students in large numbers posed their queries to the resource person.
