Weeklong faculty development programme concludes at JUIT

JAMMU, June 12: The Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) conducted a highly successful Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Teaching and Research Practices” from June 5-10 in Himachal Pradesh.
The weeklong program aimed to enrich the knowledge and skills of faculty members in the fields of pure, applied, and social sciences, focusing on teaching, research, and holistic development.
The FDP commenced with an illustrious inaugural session, graced by the esteemed presence of Padma Shri (Dr) Omesh Kumar Bharti as the Chief Guest and keynote speaker.
Distinguished speakers like Dr Meenakshi Sood, Prof (Dr) RK Sharma, Prof (Dr) Sudhir Kumar, Prof (Dr) OP Sharma, Amit Kumar, Prof (Dr) Rajesh K Sani, Dr Amit Srivastava, Prof Vijay Kumar Thakur, and others shared their expertise and insights through expert lectures during the week.
The FDP attracted an impressive participation of 93 individuals from various parts of the country, including Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune, Jaipur, Delhi, Shimla, Solan, Chandigarh, and Jammu.
The event was conducted in a hybrid mode, allowing participants to attend both online and offline. Notably, 12 participants from RKMV, Shimla, and 8 from Sri Satya Sai Institute of High Learning, Bengaluru, joined the program, along with faculty members from different departments of JUIT.
The participants expressed their enthusiasm for the well-organized program and the diverse range of topics covered.
On the Valedictory day, certificates and mementos were distributed to all participants and the supporting staff and team. The organizing team received high praise for their efforts and the positive impact of the FDP. In response to the participants’ requests, an extended session on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Knowledge Economy was arranged on the 10th of June 2023.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof RK Sharma, Dean (A&R), Prof Ashok Kumar Gupta, and Registrar and Dean of Students, (Retd) Maj Gen Rakesh Bassi, lauded the extraordinary efforts of the team and commended the successful execution of the FDP. Prof Sudhir Kumar, the Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, congratulated the team for their accomplishment.
Dr Hemant Sood and Dr Saurabh Bansal, the coordinators of the FDP, expressed their sincere gratitude to the JUIT administration, faculty, staff, and the student team of BT and BI.
