JAMMU, Sept 9: Welfare Association of four Panchayats of Thathri block have warned to launch agitation from October 2 in case their demand of continuing these Panchayats with block Thathri was not accepted by September 28.
The warning was given at a joint press conference here, today by Om Raj Bhall, Sarpanch Halqa Panchayat Halaran, Thathri, Bushan Lal Rao, Sarpanch, Halqa Panchayat Joura Kalan, Thatri, Kalyan Singh, Sarpanch, Jora Khurd and Kuldeep Kumar Naib Sarpanch, Halqa Jai Thathri.
They criticized the Government decision of including these four Panchayats which were earlier part of Thathri with newly created block Chiralia Bajja.
They said that on October 2 a huge Mashal rally of people from all these Panchyatas will be held at Thathri and protestors will also block Batote -Kishtwar Highway in protest.
Criticizing the decision they said inclusion of these Panchayats with Niabat Chiralla Bajja will add to the problems of the people as they have to travel a distance of 20 to 30 kilomentres on foot to reach their new Niyabat. They have to travel through thick forests, ascend and descend a hill where there is no habitation. This way people will be put to problems and face threat of wild animals especially in Winter when the hill top remains closed due to heavy snow fall. Moreover in the Summer also crossing the hill is dangerous due to the threat of militants, they added.
They said the authorities will be responsible for all consequences of their agitation.
