JAMMU, July 20: Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta today said that the well-being of our small business owners is crucial to the economic fabric of our society.
He said this to a delegation of Nai Basti shopkeepers which met him to express their heartfelt gratitude for his instrumental role in revoking the demolition orders of their shops due to the construction of an upcoming flyover in the area. Notably, Kavinder yesterday highlighted the issue by addressing a press conference and today, LG Manoj Sinha issued necessary directions to the authorities concerned for revoking the demolition of shops till the affected shopkeepers are rehabilitated.
Kavinder Gupta, while addressing the delegation, reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the interests of the local business community. He stated, “The well-being of our small business owners is crucial to the economic fabric of our society. The proposed demolition was not just about losing shops, but about affecting the lives and dreams of many families. I am pleased that we were able to come to a resolution that benefits everyone involved.”
He further added, “Infrastructure development is essential for progress, but it must not come at the expense of our citizens’ livelihoods. We need to find a balance where development projects can proceed without displacing our hardworking shopkeepers.”
The delegation of shopkeepers led by Pawan Singh (ex-corporator) and Naveen Gupta (president, Nai Basti Bazar Association) conveyed their deep appreciation for his efforts, which have provided them with much-needed relief and security for their livelihoods. They highlighted how the looming threat of demolition had caused immense stress and uncertainty for their families.
