NEW DELHI, Mar 22: Wheat prices dropped by Rs 60 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today on reduced offtake by flour mills against increased supplies.
However, rice basmati found fresh buying support and ended higher.
Traders said reduced offtake by flour mills against increased supplies mainly put pressure on wheat prices while fresh buying support from stockists helped rice basmati trade higher as compared to yesterday.
In the national capital, wheat prices fell by Rs 60 to Rs 1650-1655 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by the same margin to Rs 1655-1660 per 90 kg.
On the other hand, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety moved up by Rs 100 each to Rs 8700-9100 and Rs 7750-9500 per quintal, respectively. Non-basmati rice permal raw and wand also traded higher at Rs 2200-2250 and Rs 2250-2350 against last close of Rs 2150-2250 and Rs 2250-2300 per quintal respectively.
