Wheat eases on adequate supply

NEW DELHI, July 18:  Wheat prices were down by Rs 5 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today mostly due to adequate supply against reduced offtake by flour mills.
However, maize strengthened on rising demand from consuming industries.
Traders said reduced offtake by flour mills against adequate stocks mainly put pressure on wheat prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) declined by Rs 5 to Rs 1,560-1,565 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery, however held steady at Rs 1,570-1,575 per 90 kg.
Maize prices went up by Rs 50 to Rs 1,295-1,300 per quintal.
