Wheat moves up on rising flour mills demand

NEW DELHI, Nov 5:  Wheat prices firmed up by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale grains market following rising demand from flour mills coupled with paucity of stocks on fall in supplies.

However, other grains moved in a narrow range on little doing and settled at the last levels.

Traders said increased offtake by flour mills against tight stocks position on fall in arrivals from producing regions mainly pushed up the wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat MP (desi) and wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 50 each to Rs 2,590-3,125 and Rs 2,150-2,155 per quintal, respectively. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 2,110-2,115 per 90 kg.

Atta flour mills, maida and sooji followed wheat trend and finished higher at Rs 1,180-1,190, Rs 1,280-1,290 and Rs 1,350-1,360 from previous levels of Rs 1,140-1,150, Rs 1,250-1,260 and Rs 1,330-1,340 per 50 kg respectively.
