NEW DELHI, May 10: Wheat remained up for the third day as prices inched up by Rs 5 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today due to increased offtake by flour mills and stockists.
However, other grains including rice held steady in thin trade.
Traders said increased offtake by flour mills and stockists to meet ongoing marriage season demand mainly helped wheat prices to gain further ground.
In the national capital, wheat deshi and wheat dara (for mills) advanced by Rs 5 each to Rs 2,160-2,360 and Rs 1,555-1,560 per quintal respectively. Atta chakki delivery traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 1,560-1,565 per 90 kg.
Atta flour mills, maida and sooji also traded higher at Rs 840-850, Rs 840-860 and Rs 930-950 as compared to previous levels of Rs 830-850, Rs 840-850 and Rs 915-930 per 50 kg respectively.
