SRINAGAR, Feb 8: Presid-ent Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today lambasted the PDP-led Coalition Government for encouraging “white collar terrorism” in the State which is further flourishing.
He said the ruling dispensation has rendered the State Accountability Commission (SAC) completely defunct only to benefit their corrupt practices as no legal requirements had been provided to the institution till date and is virtually toothless.
Addressing workers convention at Mundigam Langate today, Vakil said delaying the inquiries into corruption allegations pending against ministers, ex-ministers former and sitting Legislators and bureaucrats has flourished the “white collar terrorism” which is taking toll on the common people. “The class fourth employees are being punished but big fishes had always been left scot free. The `Babus’ and `Mantris’ have built palaces.
Vakil said the present Government is a sister concern of National Conference when it comes to dealing with corruption. “Both the dynastic ruling parties have encouraged corruption. Both NC and PDP are hand in glove with each other to save their vested and corrupt practices to serve their dynastic political interests.”
He demanded that an independent commission should be set up headed by the two sitting High Court judges to probe the corrupt practices pending against the ex-ministers, bureaucrats and other officers.
“Corruption is a big factor that discourages the youth from joining the mainstream politics”. No one can deny this fact that unending corruption, favoritism, nepotism and mounting unemployment are the main reasons responsible for worsening the peaceful atmosphere of the State because these issues were of less importance for previous regimes as same remained unaddressed till date even the Governor N N Vohra on several occasions questioned the Government for non-transparency and non-accountability.
Senior members Rizwan Illahi, Hakim Parvaiz and Ghulam Ahmad Shagoo also spoke on the occasion.
