UDHAMPUR. May 4: Three persons including wife of the accused were injured when a villager fired with his rifle on cousin over a land dispute in Pancheri area of district Udhampur this evening.
Reports said at about 6.30 pm an information was received at Police Station Pancheri that one person namely, Jeevan son of Naseeb Raj, resident of Morha Padian near village Chulna in Tehsil Pancheri has fired from his 12 bore gun in a fit of anger on his cousin, namely- Yashpal Singh son of Prem Chand. With this Yashpal, his brother Balbir Singh and wife of the accused got injured.
After this, a police team from Police Station, Panchari headed by SHO, Pawan Dogra acting swiftly rushed to the spot and arrested the accused as he was trying to flee after committing crime along with weapon of offence.
A case FIR No. 22/2022 u/s 307 IPC has been registered at P/S Panchari in this connection.
All the three injured after preliminary treatment at Primary Health Centre, Panchari were shifted to the District Hospital, Udhampur. Yashpal was later referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu. Some land dispute was said to be the reason behind the incident. The police was investigating.
