Srinagar, July 4: Police today said it solved a blind murder case by arresting slain man’s wife and her paramour in north Kashmir’s Hajin area of Bandipora district.
A police spokesman said here that on July 3, police received information that the body of one Fayaz Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Maqbool Dar resident of Vijipara Hajin was lying in the bathroom of his house. “Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the deceased. A case under FIR number 42/2016 under section 302/RPC was registered and investigation was set into motion,” he said.
The spokesman said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted by police to probe the murder. “During the course of investigation, the deceased’s wife Zamrooda Begum was questioned about the murder of her husband but she denied of having any information about the incident.
“She was further questioned about her phone number and in reply she stated that she does not have any mobile phone for last two years. However, her claim was contradicted by her teenaged children, who stated that their mother was having a mobile phone and was using it covertly,” he said.
The investigation revealed that the deceased had doubts on her wife of having illegal relationship with one Showkat Ahmad Bhat resident of Kumina Baharabad village of Hajin due to which some differences had developed in their wedlock, said the police spokesman.
“Accordingly the suspect, Showkat was brought into police custody for questioning. During questioning, he disclosed that he had illegal affairs with the wife of deceased and had grown closer to her during past few years,” he said. The investigation further revealed that few days ago, Showkat and the wife of the deceased “hatched a criminal conspiracy” about the murder of Fayaz Dar.
“On the intervening night of July 2 and 3 of the instant month, Zamrooda communicated with her boyfriend on phone and asked him to come to his house and kill her husband. At about 2230 Hours Zamrooda had kept the window of the room open to let Showkat in. They went to the room of the deceased and killed him during his sleep. Accused Showkat held deceased tightly by his hands and sat on his chest while as Zamrooda has pressed tightly on neck until his last breath,” the police spokesman added.
