RAJOURI, Jan 18: Alert Indian Army soldiers deployed along the Line of Control in Rajouri sector rescued a wild deer near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district last night and handed it over to the concerned Wildlife Department officials.
Official sources said that the endangered animal was found trapped in the barbed wire fence of Anti Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS), as a result of which it was seriously injured. The soldiers posted in the Hanjanwali area of Manjakot sector saw the wild animal trapped in the fence while patrolling along the LoC and by reacting quickly, took deer out of the wires in an injured condition. The jawans saved after giving necessary first aid to the animal at the Animal Husbandry Centre. The deer was later handed over to the Wild Life Department, Rajouri.
The Wildlife Conservation Department is taking care of wild animal and providing treatment and once it is healthy, it will be sent to the zoo.
