Wild Life Week celebrated

JAMMU, Oct 8: Department of Botany, Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur and NCC Camp Nagrota celebrated Wild Life Week by organizing various activities.
Today on the concluding day of the week-long celebrations, the Department of Botany (GDC Udhampur) organized a guest lecture on the topic “Wild Life: Threats, Conservation strategies and Role in human welfare”.
Dr CM Seth, renowned Environmentalist and Research Scholar, former chairman, WWF J&K and Chief Wildlife Warden, J&K, who was the resource person, made an exhaustive power point presentation on the topic.
He showed mind boggling collection of pictures and video clips to the audience in his presentation and exhorted upon the audience to re-discover our heritage cultural linkages with the environment conservation.
An awareness programme on Animal Welfare and Animal Rights was also organized at NCC camp Nagrota by SAVE NGO with support of NCC Group Headquarter Jammu. The cadets were shown videos on animal rights violation, some educational videos to make them aware about our rich wildlife and how to appreciate and protect it. The cadets signed a pledge to raise their voice against animal abuse and demand stricter laws against the abuser.
