JAMMU, Apr 30: Waheed Ur Rehman Parra, PDP Youth President and Parliamentary candidate for Central Kashmir, vowed today to establish protective mechanisms for Kashmiri students facing daily harassment across the country.
Parra promised to address these challenges vigorously if he wins the upcoming election, emphasizing the need for a secure environment that enables students to pursue their studies without fear.
Highlighting the inaction of current Kashmiri MPs, Parra criticized their failure to address student grievances, pointing out that students often had to turn to MPs from other states for assistance.
He proposed collaborating with various State Governments, law enforcement bodies, and civil society organizations to ensure the safety and dignity of Kashmiri students nationwide.
Parra’s campaign focuses on creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for these students, advocating for stronger policies to safeguard their rights, and promoting understanding among student communities through dialogue.
He stressed the elimination of the identity crisis faced by Kashmiri students due to their regional background.
Reaffirming his commitment, Parra called for decisive voting by Kashmiri students, urging them to support candidates who genuinely represent their interests.
He also highlighted Mehbooba Mufti’s advocacy for Kashmiri issues, from the application of UAPA to student harassment, as evidence of the party’s commitment to their cause.
Parra concluded by encouraging a strong voter turnout among Kashmiri students, emphasizing the power of their votes in bringing about effective representation and sustained support from “Sadak to Sadan” (from the streets to the Parliament).
