Excelsior Correspondent
SAMBA, Mar 13: With no solution to their demand of seeking a rollback of increased prices of LPG cylinder, petrol and diesel and in an attempt to attract the attention of the Central Government on rising inflation, Congress workers under the leadership of former minister and JKPCC vice president Raman Bhalla and JKPCC chief spokesman Ravinder Sharma, continued protest demonstrations against the price hike in petrol, diesel and food grains at Vijaypur.
The protest was organized by Congress Sewa Dal chairman Rajesh Sadhota and district president Samba (SD) Dharampal and Babal Gupta. Holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans like “Petrol bomb Namanzoor” “Hai Hai Mehengai” and “Let live the poor,” the protesters criticized the BJP leadership and the Government. They said the Government had made life miserable for the poor and strongly demanded rollback of hike in petroleum products henceforth.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said this Government does not care for its poor people and is bent on making their lives tougher and more miserable. If the Government do not give heed to our protests and keep increasing fuel prices then obviously we will continue taking to the streets. He said that BJP Govt had promised during its election campaign to control prices of essential commodities but hiked prices to the level that poor people facing utmost hardships to feed their families. He said the party would continue to protest until the Government withdraws the price hikes.
He said that by increasing the price of petrol, diesel, mustard oil and other essential commodities the Central Government has forced the poor and lower middle class to lead a miserable life. “The increase in the price of petrol has also increased the cost of transport freight and food items. This way the Central Government is working to force people to face double burden. The Central Government should immediately take steps to minimise prices of essential commodities,” he added.
Ravinder Sharma said that inept rulers should step down as they are unable to run the country’s affairs, and miserably failed to deliver and fulfill the promises made with the people. It is absolutely shameful how the Government has dropped a petrol bomb on the poor nation at the start of 2021, he asserted.
