JUNAGADH, Mar 22: Cricketing legend and Bharat Ratna award winner Sachin Tendulkar today said he would not campaign for the Congress in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
‘I will not campaign for the Congress in the coming election. I want to stay away from politics,’ Sachin, who was on a two-day tour of Sasan Gir here, told mediapersons.
There were reports earlier that the Congress tried to rope in Sachin to contest against Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi from Varanasi but the master batsman refused. Sachin was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 2012 by the Congress-led UPA Government.
Sachin, alongwith his family, visited Sasan Gir this morning and was excited after seeing Asiatic lions. Sasan Gir is the only abode of Asiatic lions in world. (PTI)
