Srinagar, July 3: J&K Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari today said that the senior party leaders will meet the Delimitation Commission and will present the party’s viewpoint before it in Kashmir as well as in Jammu next week.
Talking to media persons here after a joining in function, Bukhari said that the party is prepared and is going to file a petition before the Commission about various aspects of the exercise.
Bukhari said that he discussed the process during the APM led by PM Modi and that leadership stated that the process of delimitation in J&K cannot be equalized with that of Assam where the process was delayed.
“They gave genuine reasons against the demand which was raised during the meeting,” he said.
He said that it may be due to the reason that the number of seats in J&K is going to see an increase. “In this regard, the party has decided to meet the commission and two delegations would be meeting it, one in Srinagar and one in Jammu so that we can present our side,” he said.
On the occasion of the joining event, a political activist and former National Conference (NC) leader Aijaz Ahmad Mir joined the J&K Apni Party.
Mir, earlier contested District Development Council (DDC) elections from Rajwar area of Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara and had secured more than 5000 votes.
While welcoming Mir to the party, Bukhari said he is hopeful that the joining of Aijaz Ahmad Mir will strengthen the party’s cadre in north Kashmir’s Kupwara and will help the party in further expansion in Kupwara.
