Will win battle against Corona, terror: DGP

JAMMU, May 21: Director General of J&K Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has expressed optimism that Union Territory police will soon emerge winner against the present two-front conflict with deadly second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing menace of terrorism.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here to observe Anti-Terrorism Day today, Singh said there are 200 terrorists active in J&K.

“Earlier, this number used to be 300 but now it has been lowered and efforts are afoot to further lower this number,” he said.
The DGP saluted the brave soldiers who rendered supreme sacrifices in fighting terrorism and appealed youth to remain active in fight against terrorism.
“All citizens too should support fight against terrorism so that the world is freed from the menace,” he maintained.
Earlier, the DGP had said that many parts of the world are affected with different forms of terrorism and at every international forum efforts are being made to address this global threat to peace and security.
He said that our country in one or another way has been victim of terrorism and added that police and other security forces have been fighting against it and will continue to do so to protect the interests of our country.
Singh said that J&K Police is on the forefront against the terrorism since last more than three decades.
“Our hundreds of personnel have sacrificed their lives in protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. J&K Police will continue to fight the menace to maintain the peaceful environment of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
The DGP asserted that present time of COVID pandemic is really a tough time in which cops and other frontline warriors are on job.
“I thank all doctors, health care workers and others who are risking their lives in fight against the pandemic,” he further said making an appeal to all for following instructions of the authorities as far as the COVID pandemic is concerned.
