DGP reviews security arrangements for Buddha Amarnath Yatra

POONCH, June 3: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh today said militancy element was present in Kishtwar since long and in the recent past a few more people joined it and our efforts is to wipe-out entire module and to ensure militancy is not revived in Kishtwar belt.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Mendhar area of this district, Parrihar brothers and RSS leader’s killing case is being investigated by the NIA and he won’t be able to speak much about it. “The culprits have been identified in these killings,” he said.
“As far as Kishtwar district is concerned, the element of militancy is very old here and in the recent past some youth joined them. Our effort is to wipe out the entire module and we will ensure that militancy is not allowed to be revived in Kishtwar belt,” he said while replying to a query. Click here to watch video
On the installation of CCTVs, the DGP said that there is a need to install CCTVs at various places to ensure heightened vigil. “City and old places had CCTVs but there is a need to install CCTV at more places. The project report regarding installation of CCTVs is being looked into by the ADG Headquarters and his team,” he said.
During his visit to Mendhar, DGP reviewed security arrangements for smooth conduct of upcoming Buddha Amarnath Yatra and also inaugurated SDPO office-cum residential block.
He was accompanied by IGP Jammu MK Sinha, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Vivek Gupta and SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral DGP also interacted with the jurisdictional police officers and interacted on different issues.
For smooth conduct of upcoming Buddha Amarnath Ji Yatra, the DGP issued directions to the police officers. He said that deployment of the cops enroute Jammu-Poonch national highway should be placed well in advance for the safe passage of the yatries. He also said that control rooms and security check points should be established at suitable places to keep a vigil on the anti social elements. He stressed for enhanced synergy among the security forces for the conduct of peaceful yatra.
During his interaction with the jurisdictional officers, DGP said that in view of the vulnerability of the area the police have a major role to strengthen surveillance system at the gross root level and keep vigil on the activities of the anti-national elements. He said that checking cross-border drug smuggling is also a great responsibility of the local police for which people’s cooperation is must.
He also interacted with the citizens of the area and sought their cooperation in strengthening the police public bonds and fight against social crimes.
DGP later inaugurated SDPO office-cum-residential block at Mendhar, which is likely to help the officers and personnel to discharge their duties efficiently.
