I will work for betterment of KPs: Sameer

JAMMU, Apr 4: NC leader and renowned oncologist of the country Dr Sameer Koul today said that he will work for the betterment of Kashmiri Pandit community which has suffered during last two and half decades.
In a statement issued here today Dr Koul said his community has every right on him. Koul who recently joined NC after he resigned from PDP opposing its alliance with BJP was also close associate of the PDP founder Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and was the chief national spokesman of the Party.
Dr Koul accused Peoples Democratic Party of selling Kashmiri Pandits to Bhartiya Janata Party after latter allied with the former in 2015 and formed Government in the State.
He said that “I am part and parcel of the community, will do anything for my people and few people from temple committees must understand the things better”.
“I always wanted Kashmiri Pandits to maintain their identity. Kashmiri Pandits are original aborigines of Kashmir are the fountainhead of almost all religions practiced in this unique region today,” he said
“By joining NC, I will try to convince Pandits that we must reinvent the era that had eminent opinion builders and leaders like Jiya Lal Kilam, Saraf, Ram Chander Kak, P N Bazaz and P L Handoo,” he said
“Pyarelal Handoo always preached and followed the philosophy of Sarwa Dharma Sambhaw,” Dr Koul said .
“National Conference being the regions predominant political movement and believing in Hindu Muslim Sikh Etihad has always been a natural home for them, despite Kashmiri Pandit landlords having suffered economically,” he said.
“I will continue to strive to serve the people of the Jammu and Kashmir State in upholding their political rights, dignity and honor keeping in mind the true aspirations of the people of the State and the principles of real Kashmiriyat,” he added.
