JAMMU, Oct 29: Cautioning people from different political outfits not to mix religion with politics, former J&K Chief Minister and DPAP chairman, Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that he will work on his unfinished agenda if his party is voted to power in Jammu and Kashmir.
Azad said his politics would always be based on moral and social values and he would never discriminate among the people on the basis of religion. He said the foundation of his party is itself based on same principles since he believes in inclusiveness and equality and only promotes merit. He said DPAP never believed in discrimination with people on the basis of religion. For him Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs or others, all are equal.

“ In my political career, I never discriminated or helping anyone for being from a particular religion. Because if we practice such tactics, it can prove disastrous and insidious,” Azad said while addressing a large public meeting at Ramban on Sunday.
He said during his tenure as Chief Minister, he gave colleges, schools, hospitals, Tehsils and Niabats and initiated many other development works but he did it in Kashmir and Jammu regions, actually benefiting all and not any particular community. He said if he is elected to power, he will work on his unfinished task and escalate his developmental agenda and ensure all the left out works are done on priority basis.
The former Chief Minister said he aims to work for the people of all faiths and social class where no discrimination is practiced and all humanity is benefited. “ I will focus on further building hospitals and colleges in those areas which are far away and people are suffering for such facilities. Road networks shall be further expanded and the rural pockets will be connected with cities and towns. This will, in turn ensure the economic growth and job opportunities for our people,” he added.
Azad said he would never ever play the politics of hatred and invoke religion for votes. “ This is not what my ideology stands for. I strictly believe in the politics of merit and work. I will place my report card in front of my people and they will judge me instead of instigating communal flames to secure power,” he said.
He said without playing communal card, people appreciate developmental and positive politics as reflected in the rally.
“ Today thousands of people turned to my rally here since they admit and appreciate my developmental projects in the area when I was the Chief Minister of erstwhile J&K state. I assure you all that more such projects will come up and Ramban will be one of the modern districts in the country if I am given a chance to serve my people again,” Azad said.
Prominent among others who attended the rally included GM Saroori vice chairman, RS Chib- general secretary, Jugal Kishore Sharma- provincial president, Abdul Majeed Wani general secretary, Salman Nizami chief spokesperson, Anita Thakur general secretary, Arun Singh Raju- secretary, Th Dharam Chand district president, Riyaz Naz- secretary, Sobat Ali provincial general secretary ST wing and others.
