Srinagar, Dec 3: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has proposed a phased winter vacation schedule for schools in Kashmir starting from the second week of December.
Under the proposal, winter vacations for classes up to 2nd primary are suggested from December 9, 2024, to February 24, 2025. For classes 3rd primary to 12th, the vacation is proposed from December 16, 2024, to February 24, 2025.
The proposal has been submitted in view of ongoing cold wave and dense fog conditions in the Kashmir Valley.

“The situation has necessitated the declaration of the winter vacation. Hence the proposal is submitted for your kind perusal and further necessary action and orders,” read the proposal submitted to the Principal Secretary School Education Department.
Meanwhile, the Central University of Kashmir today announced winter vacation, starting from December 23 until February 10, 2025.
“The last working day for all academic programs will be December 20, 2024,” read a notification issued by the university.
It further stated that departments wishing to continue teaching, learning, or other academic activities during the winter break, whether partially or fully, “are required to submit a proposal to the Dean of Academic Affairs in advance.”
