UDHAMPUR, Jan 15: Ranbir Singh Pathania, spokesperson, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), today said that due to pro people policies and no soft attitude towards terrorism of the Narendra Modi Government the system has improved considerably in J&K.
While addressing a mammoth gathering of VDGs at Ujh bridge in Billawar tehsil whereby VDGs hailing from district Udhampur, Kathua and Basohli were present, he said the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir underwent significant transformations after the (BJP) came to power in 2014. It adopted a more assertive approach towards handling the security situation in the region. There was a focus on a robust counter-terrorism strategy and a strong stance against separatist movements, he added.
Pathania said security forces were given more autonomy in operations against militant outfits, and efforts were made to strengthen intelligence networks and cooperation among security agencies.
Nonetheless, the most pivotal shift occurred on August 5, 2019, when the Indian Government revoked Article 370 and bifurcated the State into two separate Union Territories: Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. This move aimed to integrate the region more closely with the rest of India and facilitate socio-economic development, he said. It also marked a significant shift in the security approach. There was a heightened emphasis on neutralizing militant groups and controlling cross-border infiltration, he added.
Pathania said this period also saw reorganization of the State’s police force and intelligence agencies to enhance their capabilities and effectiveness. The focus shifted towards a more assertive counter-terrorism approach and a re-evaluation of the region’s governance structure, profoundly impacting the security dynamics and political landscape.
Space has reduced for separatist elements and ultimately an environment has been created by these developments pushing J&K towards four dimensional Philip. He lauded the Government policy of anti terrorism and other path breaking steps like empowerment of VDGs. He reminded the VDGs of ‘Doda Bachao Andholan’ launched by BJP and supreme sacrifices made by its cadres during peak of militancy.
Pathania lambasted the Congress, NC, PDP and other political parties who had been again and again raising the voice of disbanding of VDCs within as well as outside the Assembly. He was all praise for the landmark steps which have been taken by VDCs in J&K for freeing it from the clutches of militancy.
