JAMMU Nov 24: Provincial president Youth National Conference Jammu and former MLA Poonch Ajaz Jan expressed great disappointment against the unwieldy formalities introduced by the J&K government, making the life of pensioners a virtual hell.
In a statement issued here today, the former MLA castigated the ruling Government at the Centre stating that the hollow policies of government have only resulted in increasing the sufferings of the people manifold. He resented the order issued by the government adding needless formalities in the verification of pension holders due to which this hapless section have to move from pillar to post, which are part of their genuine right. He said instead of enhancing their income government making their life more troublesome by adding such unwanted formalities.
The former MLA also condemned the government for raising power tariff at this juncture when people are facing brunt of the highest ever inflation. He said the administration has shown no interest towards addressing problems of people living in rural areas as facing shortage of basic amenities has become part and parcel of their lives. He sought roll back on power tariff hike.
The senior NC leader said that instead of providing basic amenities to the people of Jammu and Kashmir the present regime has miserably failed to stand on the aspirations of the state. He demanded that government should immediately roll back its decision of additional formalities for verification of pensioners and hike in power tariff to ease the people’s problems.
Jan asserted that the J&K is passing through a difficult phase and need of the time is to strengthen the hands of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah to steer it to peace, progress and development. He said that the National Conference was the real secular and democratic political party which represented the urges and aspirations of the people of erstwhile state.
“Dr Farooq Abdullah is the only leader in J&K who is fighting for the rights of the people. People have understood the motive of BJP to grab power on false narratives and do nothing for the common man as is proved by the Centre’s indifferent attitude towards people’s miseries,” he added.
