JAMMU, Feb 3: MJR-47, Movement for Justice to Refugees of 1947 from PoJK has sought withdrawal of the notice for submission of Rs 5.5 lakhs claim of PoJK and Chhamb DPs under Prime Ministers’ Package as recently issued by the LG’s Administration in J&K.
In a press statement issued here today, the DPs organization has requested the Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation department to withdraw notice imposing cut off date for submission of claim of Rs 5.5 lakhs in view of prevailing Covid pandemic and non-tracing of records by the 4th-5th generation of PoJK and Chhamb DPs families in the PRO office. It said the notice issued on January 28, 2022 notifying that no claim shall be entertained after Feb 10, 2022, is not only harsh, irrational but arbitrary in nature.
Suchwant Singh, chief spokesman of the organisation further said that the notice is quite unexpected of the department handling Covid and the same runs contrary to the spirit of Supreme Court which has suo motto waived limitation period under all Acts during the Covid pandemic. The Government has already arrived at Rs 549692 instead of Rs 5.5 lakhs due to division of fixed sanctioned amount with 26319 families from PoJK with 10,000 families from Chhamb and then how can any of such family in whose favour amount has been settled be debarred of such amount/ benefit. Apart from these, 5300 PoJK DPs families residing outside J&K and 9500 families unregistered have not been considered for this relief.
The MJR-47 has sought intervention of Union Home Minister and Lt Governor, J&K into the matter and strongly demanded that the controversial notice of dated January 28, 2022 on PM’s package be withdrawn immediately and all the left out and deserving DPs families be considered for relief.
