JAMMU, July 19: All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation and J&K Pensioners Welfare Association have condemned a new order/circular issued by the LG’s administration of re-verification of the pensioners and family pensioners, by appearing before the Treasury Officers, causing unnecessary harassment to the elderly pensioners.
In a meeting of the pensioners held here under the leadership of Achal Dev Singh, convenor, the speakers alleged that JK UT Government was causing undue harassment to the state pensioners. They said the pensioners are producing Life certificate every year during the months of November-December as a part of their verification by appearing before the JK Bank officials to complete annual formalities, then what is the need of this verification.
They said the circular of Finance department is aimed at harassing elderly pensioners. Many of them are above the age of 75 or 80 and many are bed ridden. Calling them to appear before the Treasury officers now is unjustified and unfair, just to harass them. They condemned this decision and urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to withdraw this order causing unnecessary harassment to the elderly state pensioners.
