Talking to reporters here, today the chairman of the Trust, Shiban Khaibri, its spokesperson, Dr R L Bhat , general secretary, Shadi Lal Koul, secretary, Sundri Lal Koul and Sanjay Pandita EB member alleged that despite knowing that the anti national elements in the Valley are hell bent to create to attack religious places, the administration withdrew security from many important Hindu shrines and temples and the result was evident at holy shrine of Bargsheikha which dates back to Puranic period and is presiding deity of Kashmiri Pandits.
They said besides, Bargashakha temple of Mattan the security has been removed from some important shrines including Mamleshwar temple at Pahalgam, Gosani Gund Ashram in Dooru Anantnag, Ganeshpora temple in Pahalgam and other shrines of Valley despite the apprehensions raised by the community about the safety of these age old shrines and religious monuments.
They made it clear to LG administration that majority of shrines and temples in Kashmir are religious monuments which represent the thousands year old Hindu culture and civilization but unfortunately Government failed to take the cognizance of the same and make arrangements for their protection and safety. They said till security was there these shrines and temples were secured.
They said the delaying tactics adopted by the Government in passage of the Shrines Bill is also one of the cause of vandalisation of Hindu shrines in the Valley. Despite being a genuine demand the Government under the influence of some vested elements was dodging it, they added.
They said there is extreme influence of the land mafia and encroachers on Government which is delaying the passage of the Bill constantly.
The Trust representatives wanted to know why the authorities have failed to start the work on construction of roads and development of the shrines of Bargashakha and Chaka in Mattan for which DPRs have been made over a year back and Rs 3.65 crore and Rs 6.50 crore were sanctioned but no headway was made in starting the work till date.
