Sir,
Refer news item‘‘Heavy shelling in R S Pura..’’ DE Aug 23.
The people living on Indo-Pak border are again in news for wrong reasons. Firing from across the border has made their life a hell. This is not for the first time experiencing such a condition. They have been bearing the ire of Indo-Pak hostilities since 1947. They live a peaceful life only in intervals. It is only during this period that they cultivate their lands, rear cattle and send their children to schools.
Otherwise, they live a miserable life in torn tents where they bear scorching sun and torrential rains. They overnight become beggers from landlords, and have to eke their life on Government doles. Their children become street children from school children.
Their time and again displacement is human rights violation which needs to be taken cognizance of immediately. These border people can not live a life on the mercy of Pak army.
They need to be rehabilitated at a secure and safe place.
Yours etc….
