After rail, air travelers too allowed home quarantine
11 more cops from Nehru Market PP among 107 test +ve

JAMMU, July 30: Two persons including a woman died of COVID-19 in Shastri Nagar and Shakti Nagar areas of Jammu while 107 persons including 11 more police personnel from Nehru Market Police Post, two Health Department officials, three PHE employees, a Bank staffer, one ration dealer, six CRPF personnel from 76 battalion in Jammu and six of 187 battalion in Udhampur tested positive even as the single day highest 189 patients infected with the virus recovered today in Jammu region.

Late tonight, 11 more police personnel from Nehru Market Police Post were tested positive for COVID-19. With this, a total of 16 policemen from the Post including Incharge Sub Inspector have reported positive for the virus.
The Union Territory of Ladakh recorded another Corona casualty today and spike in cases with 31 more persons testing positive including 30 in Leh district and one in Kargil.
A 56-year-old woman suffering from Type 2 diabetes mellitus with Corona symptoms like high fever and cough for last three days and high respiratory distress was brought to the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu yesterday and had sudden collapse in the Emergency. Her body was shifted to the GMC mortuary after COVID test. She reported positive for the virus this afternoon, GMC Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said.
He said the body has been packed as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for cremation tomorrow. The woman’s family members and other contacts will be sampled for Corona testing after cremation.
A 56-year-old man from Shakti Nagar was brought dead to the GMC Jammu early this morning with high fever for last eight days and respiratory distress since last night. He had collapsed at the bathroom in his house at 3 am. He too tested positive for Coronavirus after the death. His body has been packed as per the protocol for cremation tomorrow.
Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bakshi Nagar Amit Sharma and SHO Inspector Manjit Singh visited Shakti Nagar. The house has been contained, Sharma said, adding the family and other contacts of the woman will be tested for COVID-19 after cremation.
With two deaths in Jammu district, the region’s Corona toll has gone up to 27 and that of Jammu district to 18. Other deaths have been reported from Rajouri and Doda districts (two each) and Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban, Samba and Poonch (one each).
An Army soldier died of Corona in Leh district in Ladakh today taking total casualties in the Union Territory to seven-four in Leh and three in Kargil district.
The J&K Government has, meanwhile, allowed air travelers on the lines of rail passengers to go for home quarantine after their arrival for 14 days or till their results are reported negative. They will continue to be sampled on arrival at the airport as per existing protocol.
However, the passengers arriving by air and rail will be sent to administrative or paid quarantine for 14 days if they don’t have valid phone number with Aarogya Setu App downloaded in it till they test negative.
“In the event of any air or rail passengers testing positive, the protocol with regards to COVID positive patients will be followed,” a Government order said.
However, the existing protocol for the road travelers will continue who arrive in regulated manner at Lakhanpur i.e. they will have to go for administrative/paid quarantine for 14 days till the test results are received.
The SOP for patients, businessmen etc which is in place on their arrival will continue, the order said.
Meanwhile, 38 persons including 11 with no travel history today tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu district including six jawans of CRPF’s 76 battalion, five civilians from village Dhangar with no travel history, three from Akhnoor tehsil, two of them having returned from Srinagar and another with no travel history and a 13-year-old girl from Sainik School Road in Nagrota.
Other positives of Jammu district were a 40-year-old man from Channi Himmat, seven-year-old child from Malpur, middle-aged man from Subash Nagar, 40-year-old from Bishnah, 10-year-old child from New Plot, youth from Durga Nagar, an elderly couple from Rehari, 40-year-old woman from Gole Gujral, youth from Nanak Nagar, 62-year-old man from Bantalab, 36-year-old from Mishriwalla, 33-year-old from Raipur Domana, 57-year-old woman from Channi, 26-year-old youth from Sanjay Nagar, 44-year-old from Miran Sahib, 38 and 26 years old men from Gandhi Nagar, 80-year-old man from Sainik Colony and 50-year-old from Durga Nagar.
Twenty six persons have reported positive for the virus in Rajouri district, according to SSP Chandan Kohli.
He said the positives include a Bank official from Rajouri City posted at Darhal, Health Department staffer of Primary Health Centre (PHC) Mogla, a Saudi Arabia returnee, two BSF jawans deployed at Dhangri and Panjpeer, an ITBP soldier stationed at DPL, an IRP 2nd battalion constable from Fatehpur, three ration dealers from Rajouri and three PHE employees from Sunderbani.
Rest of the positives were contacts, Red Zone people and travelers.
In Poonch district, 12 persons today reported positive for the virus. Two of them were BSF jawans. Six positives belonged to Surankote and one each to Khanetar, Fazlabad and Behram Gala. The positive BSF jawans belonged to 72 battalion BSF.
Nine persons have tested Corona positive in Udhampur district. They include six CRPF jawans of 187 battalion headquartered at Udhampur, two police personnel who were contacts of a positive person and one person with travel history.
In Doda district, four new Corona cases were reported today. They were one Health official posted at Community Health Centre (CHC) Thathri, one Chowkidar from Gandoh and two villagers from Ghat with travel history.
Three persons tested positive in Samba district. They include a police constable hailing from Bari Brahamana and two civilians from Rangoor Camp Ramgarh and Sojanpur having travel history of Andhra Pradesh and Amritsar respectively.
A trader from Kishtwar town with travel history of Srinagar and a village from Chatroo who happened to be contact of Corona patient today reported positive in Kishtwar district.
A 44-year-old man from New Delhi who was under administrative quarantine at Katra was lone Corona case of Reasi district today. Ramban district also reported only one case of Corona which came from Gool where a man with travel history of Punjab was tested positive.
With today’s positive cases, Jammu region’s Corona tally stood at 4301. Of them, 1850 cases were active as 2425 patients have recovered while there have been 27 casualties.
Meanwhile, 31 more persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Ladakh including 30 in Leh district and one in Kargil taking total cases to 1378—595 in Leh and 783 in Kargil. The UT now has 277 active cases including 223 in Leh and 54 in Kargil as 1094 patients have recovered from the virus.
Of total positive cases, 31 were admitted in COVID hospitals, 77 were in home isolation, 31 in COVID Care Centre and 133 in Facility Isolation.
