Woman among 2 die of COVID in Jammu, 80 cases in Kashmir

73 travelers test +ve in Reasi

LEH, Aug 12: Two persons including a woman died of COVID-19 while 96 tested positive for the virus in Jammu region including 73 travelers in Reasi district. Kashmir reported 80 new cases and the Union Territory of Ladakh 10.
A 44-year-old man hailing from Kunjwani Bypass in Jammu and a 75-year-old woman from village Chak Gora in Samba district died of COVID-19 and co-morbidities in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and Narayana Hospital Katra respectively today.
Among 96 COVID positive cases reported in Jammu region, 73 were recorded in Reasi district and all of them were travelers.
Thirty travelers tested positive on their arrival at Katra Railway Station in Jammu Mail, 27 in Tirunelveli Special train and 15 in Samparak Kranti.
In other districts, five positive cases each were reported from Jammu and Doda districts, four Kathua, three Rajouri, two each in Udhampur and Kishtwar and one each in Samba and Poonch districts.
Ramban district didn’t report any fresh cases today.
As against 96 new cases, 75 persons recovered from the virus.
Jammu region now has 1,22,399 Coronavirus cases. Among them, 566 are active positives while 1,19,677 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2156 casualties.
Fatalities include 1141 in Jammu district followed by 228 in Rajouri, 151 Kathua, 137 Udhampur, 128 Doda, 120 Samba, 97 Poonch, 67 Ramban, 44 Kishtwar and 43 in Reasi district.
Meanwhile, 10 fresh COVID positive cases were today reported in the Union Territory of Ladakh, all in Leh district.
Ladakh’s Corona count now stood at 20421. Of them, 82 are active positives as 20132 have been treated and there were 207 casualties.
The deaths include 149 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 80 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 21 from Srinagar, 7 from Baramulla, 10 from Budgam, 4 from Pulwama, 1 from Kupwara, 15 from Anantnag, 10 from Bandipora, 10 from Ganderbal and 2 from Kulgam.
As per officials figures, 71,738 positive cases including 834 deaths and 70,604 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,743 including 282 deaths and 23,377 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,996 including 22,713 recoveries and 206 deaths are from Budgam, 15,244 including 15,006 recoveries and 194 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,138 including 165 deaths and 13,929 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,361 including 16,122 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,541 cases including 9,390 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,999 including 9,850 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,314 including 11,165 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,588 including 5,526 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 200,662 including 197,682 recoveries and 2,239 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,307 including 741 from Kashmir division.
With 164 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 317,359, which is 98.24 percent of the total cases.
