Woman arrested in Ganderbal theft case

Srinagar, Apr 5: Police in Ganderbal today solved a theft case by arresting a woman involved in the commission of the crime.
Authorities stated that on April 2, 2024, the Police Station in Ganderbal received a written complaint from Kaiser Ahmad Waza, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Waza, resident of Tawheed Chowk, Ganderbal.
He reported that his sister-in-law, who was a guest at his house, had stolen gold ornaments from the locker in his room.
“Upon receiving this information, a case was registered at PS Ganderbal under FIR No. 64/2024, invoking relevant sections of the law, and further investigation was initiated,” police stated.
Acting swiftly on the directives of SSP Ganderbal, Sandeep Gupta, a special police team under the supervision of Gh Hassan, Hqrs Ganderbal, led by SHO PS Ganderbal, was constituted.
“After strenuous efforts and with the aid of technical inputs, the police party apprehended the accused at Hari Singh High Street, Srinagar,” police added.
Police said that during preliminary investigation, the accused confessed to the crime and admitted to stealing the gold ornaments, which she later sold for money.
Upon her disclosure, police said, cash amounting to Rs 1,85,500 and a scooty recovered from her possession were seized on the spot.
She has been arrested in connection with the case, and further investigation is underway, police said.
