Woman arrested, newly born recovered

JAMMU, Nov 11: Police today recovered a three old baby who was abducted from Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital and arrested a woman.
Police spokesman said that, Alam Din, son of Mohd Hussain of Jindrah, filed a complaint with Police Post SMGS hospital, that a burqa clad woman abducted his child.
In his complaint, he said that the woman told them that J&K Bank pays Rs 3,000 to the family of the newly born babies and asked them to bring their child to the bank.
“After reaching the bank, the lady took the baby and asked them to bring the file and after they came back the lady fled from the spot along with the baby”, spokesman added.
After registering FIR number 89/ 12 under Section 363 RPC, police started investigation. They also sought the help of the CCTV footage, but in vain to trace the “burqa clad woman”, he added.
The message of the child abduction was flashed to all the Police Stations and other allied sectors, he said, adding, that in the mean time, Gandhi Nagar Police got an information about a woman, who was seen by some people along with newly born child in Nai Basti.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the baby and arrested the woman identified as Nahida, wife of Rouf Umar Bhat of Tarigaou, district Kulgam, Srinagar, spokesman informed.
Further investigation into the case is going on and the police is also probing the said woman’s hand in other offences also, he said.
The arrest was made by police party from city police station led by SHO Bishnesh Kumar, under the supervision of DSP Kuldeep Handa and SSP Jammu, Prabhat Singh.
