UDHAMPUR, Dec 9: A woman was charred to death and all her household belongings including poultry stock vanished when a mysterious fire broke out in her house during wee hours at hamlet Bughdual in village Damnote tehsil Moungri.
The deceased woman has been identified as Benti Devi (74), wife of late Billu, a resident of Damnote.
As per police sources, deceased Benti Devi was all alone in her house, when her house got engulfed in the devastating fire. The villagers from the nearby houses rushed to the spot and tried their level best to save her life, but it was too late and she had been completely charred inside the house.
Damnote police has initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC to ascertain the cause of incident.
