KATHUA, Apr 22: A Middle aged woman committed suicide by hanging herself to a ceiling fan at her residence in village Hatli Morh Kathua today.
She has been identified as Bramo Devi, 58, wife of Thoru Ram. She was shifted to District Hospital Kathua by the family members immediately where from doctors referred her to GMC Jammu. But she breathed her last in the hospital during this evening as her condition was critical.
The Police Post Hatli Morh has registered a case under relevant sections of the law in this regard. The dead body will be handed over to family by police after postmortem tomorrow.
Reports said that the woman had lost her eldest son over one month back and since then she was mentally disturbed and this might be one of the causes for the extreme steps taken by her.
Meanwhile, two persons consumed poison at two different places in Billawar area today. They were shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment and their condition is stated to be critical.
Police said one male person consumed poison in village Dharmi while a woman consumed some poisonous substance in Ramkote area of Billawar. Both of them were shifted to the GMC by their respective family members in a serious condition.
