Woman commits suicide; 3 consume poison

JAMMU, June 20: 25-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide, while three others made an abortive attempt to end their lives by consuming some poisonous substance at their respective residences.
Police spokesman said that, a 25-year-old woman, Kamlesh Devi, wife of Mohinder, resident of Ramkote, Billawar, District Kathua, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her home.
Noticing her unconscious, family members shifted her to nearby hospital, from where she was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). At GMC Hospital, she failed to respond to the treatment and died, spokesman added.
The body was handed over to legal heirs after autopsy, while, a case has been registered and investigation started to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step.
He added that, Sudesh Kumari, wife of Anant Ram of Dhana, Lakhanpur, made an abortive attempt on her life by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence.
Family members shifted her to district hospital, Kathua, where her condition was stated to be critical, when last reports came in.
Meanwhile, Rekha Devi, wife of Yash Pal, resident of Pardi, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her home. Family members shifted her to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where her condition was stated to be stable, spokesman added.
However, reason behind such extreme step could not be ascertained, while, a case has been registered in this regard at concerned police station.
In another incident, Renu Devi, wife of Mohan Lal, resident of Dhiani, district Samba, accidentally consumed some poisonous substance at her home.
Family members shifted her to District Hospital, Samba, where she was responding to the treatment, when last reports came in.
