KISHTWAR, Apr 7: A woman and her daughter were charred to death in a fire at their residence in Manzgam-Tagood village of Chatroo in the early hours today, police sources said.
Poshi Devi (50) and Neetu Bala (25) were trapped inside their kutcha house in Manzgam-Tagood village in Chhatroo area when the fire broke out around 1 am, sources added.
The house was completely gutted, sources said, adding that the two women were sleeping and could not escape.
Their charred bodies were recovered by rescue teams comprising police, fire and emergency services personnel, sources said, adding that the cause of fire was accidental.
After conducting autopsy and DNA sampling at Disteixt Hospital Kishtwar, the bodies were handed over to legal heirs.
However, Chatroo Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
